In 2011, the Iowa Women's Leadership Project was created to research and report on the status of women and girls in Iowa.  In April, 2012, SHE MATTERS - 2012 Status of Women and Girls in Iowa was published and released. The Friends of ICSW was honored to be a part of this important project.  

Phase II of this important project is now underway. The Iowa Women's Foundation is working with Mapping Strategies and the fellow members of the Iowa Women's Leadership Project to develop an interactive Iowa map which will serve as an authoritative educational and research tool that maps all the data sources represented in SHE MATTERS - 2012 Status of Women and Girls in Iowa as well as additional data regarding Iowa organizations serving women and girls, female elected officials and more.

The final map was released in September 2012. Upon its completion the Iowa Women's Foundation and Mapping Strategies began a series of four training sessions throughout Iowa to inform individuals and organizations on how they can use the tool to educate, advocate, engage and improve their communities.
